I am crying tonight
it's the tears of a refugee woman
in the corner of their little room
she lays in the light of the window
Unmoved by silence
the little girl's cough startles her
it's her daughter that dreams at daylight
night is now a place for nightmares
Crying when she wakes up
happy to see her mother in the corner
the son and brother is too tall to lie there
so he makes room in the middle
You're sick with sorrow
that he has to live like this
it's really eating you from the inside out
as your hair's gone grey too soon
Soon
it's the word you've kept telling yourself
(but) the first time was 8 months ago
soon
Soon I will get help to go forward
soon my husband and daughters will come here
soon we will find ourselves starting over
soon we will get out of this place
But no
your soon-s have grown into questions
Will we ever get help to go forward?
will my husband and daughters come here?
will we ever find ourselves starting over?
will we get out of this little room?
You're now more concerned about staying alive where you are
and knowing that your husband and daugthers are too
you don't wanna think about the starting over
as you've grown weary in all of the four corners of the room
So you cry
and you've cried through all seasons now
and you cried when we met
So I cry
there will be a soon
and I hope it's tonight
We cried and we laughed
and you have the most beautiful smile
please God, let there be soon
